News from Imago Dei
In the past few months Imago Dei Christian Community has sent some of its members to Burma (twice) and presently has a team in Haiti. In one trip to Burma, IDCC members, Norman Agena and Steve Peich (who also serves as the pastor), went on an ‘exploratory/service’ trip with some Burmese pastors who are overseeing at least eight orphanages. On the second trip, Norman went by himself, and through the funds provided by IDCC and others, hehelped purchase land for a destitute orphanage, also providing food, clothing, and material to build an adequate home on the new property. On that same trip, Norman also provided financial support to launch a new Discipleship Training School.Another group of members from IDCC challenged us to help purchase a water filtering system for a group of Haitian women to start a micro business. As of June, the team (Linda and Amy Stringer, Colin Kumabe, and Trina Orimoto) is in Haiti helping to set up theprojectand helping at an orphanage.
REACH Happenings
During March through May, REACH had six different "workship" opportunities in Kauai to provide practical help to people in our community. In addition we also joined the prison ministry teams of our Koloa, Kalaheo and Kapaa sister churches. Each meeting turned out to be powerful. Most recently, on the last Sunday in May, we had a house blessing for a transitional house called "The Crossroads House," where furloughed female inmates will have opportunity to assimilate back into society under the spiritual covering of REACH.
As the Lord would place REACHon your hearts, we ask for your prayers that we might be discerning and unified.
To learn more about REACH's philosophy of ministry, please feel free to call: (808)651-7231
