GRANDMOTHERS PRAY FOR TEENS
Teenagers face incredible challenges to their faith. Most attend schools that teach values that conflict with Scripture. They are almost forced to accept a non-biblical world view regarding the origin of the universe. Students face peer pressure to use drugs and alcohol and become sexually active. Many keep their faith as though it was a secret – fearing criticism, bullying or jokes at their expense. In addition to the social pressures, there are the normal pressures to perform in the classroom or in athletics. One of the groups in America needing prayer support is students. There is a group of grandmothers in one church that meets every month for coffee and a Bible study but have as their prayer focus the students of their church. Each of the ladies is given the names of one or two students to pray for each day for a month. The group prays for the student in their birthday month and sends a birthday card to them with a personal note of encouragement. It’s surprising how the kids are pleased to know that there is a group of ladies praying for them and they seem to really enjoy receiving these cards.Grandmothers aren’t the only ones who can pray. Grandfathers could also meet regularly to pray especially for the teenage boys in the church. Imagine the impact if the young men of the church would receive a note from the older men of the church with words of encouragement and assurance of prayer. If you are one of those seniors – men or women – your greatest impact on the next generation may very likely be in the form of interceding on their behalf.
