A Message from Interim President Jimmy Santiago
Dear Missionary Church Family,
It has been 48 hours since you received the news of a presidency change, and I imagine that like me, many of you are hurting and still processing it all.
It is in times like these where we turn to our Prince of Peace who truly is the one at the helm. Psalm 46:1 says, “He is an ever present help in times of trouble” and in verse 10, “Be still and know that I AM God.”
It was four years ago when I was asked by the nominating committee and then President Steve Jones to let my name stand for the vice presidency. They all stated that they trusted in me, so I will do my best with God’s help and your prayers to continue to push forward our mission to fulfill the Great Commission and the multiplication of disciples, churches, and networks to the fourth generation.
And that is exactly what is happening! In fact, as I look around the Missionary Church, I see that our family is incredibly strong and experiencing a move of God. World Partners is celebrating that 16 people were just baptized from an unreached Hindu people group in Pakistan that is the result of a Pakistani being taught to make disciples as he delivers pizzas. The Pastoral Leadership Institute has 88 students, including one who is graduating in Hawaii and being sent out to plant a new church there, while 17 pastors graduated last weekend in Pennsylvania. 230 church leaders will gather at Bethel University next month for the Latino/Hispanic National Conference to pray and learn more about experiencing the presence of God. Bethel University students are serving on missions teams, at camps, and studying abroad while the faculty and staff are preparing to welcome more than 1200 students this fall to be trained for ministry and missional vocation. Seven new churches have been planted just this year in the Building Bridges Network, and the network is also partnering with new churches around the world in Portugal, Spain, and France.
These are just a few of the stories. The list could go on and on!
I have also been impressed by the leadership of our districts, regions, MLC, and GOC. We are being led by men and women of prayer, faithfulness to the scriptures, Spirit-led wisdom, and unity. It is incredibly encouraging.
This is my first address to you as interim president, but it will not be the last. I will also do my best to visit as many regional and district conferences as I can as we continue to charge ahead. I never intended or expected to be in this role, but as a good friend once told me, “God doesn’t always call the qualified but qualifies those He calls.” That is my hope.
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace. (Num. 6:24-26)

Han pasado 48 horas desde que recibieron la noticia del cambio de la presidencia, e imagino que, como yo, muchos de ustedes están sufriendo y todavía lo están procesando todo.
Es en tiempos como estos donde nos dirigimos a nuestro Príncipe de Paz, que realmente es el que está al mando. Salmos 46:1 dice: "Dios es…nuestro pronto auxilio en las tribulaciones”" y en el versículo 10, " Estad quietos, y conoced que YO SOY Dios."
Fue hace cuatro años cuando el comité de nominaciones y el entonces presidente Steve Jones me pidieron que dejara que mi nombre representara la vicepresidencia. Todos declararon que confiaban en mí, así que haré todo lo posible con la ayuda de Dios y sus oraciones para continuar impulsando nuestra misión de cumplir con la Gran Comisión y la multiplicación de discípulos, iglesias y redes hasta la cuarta generación.
¡Y eso es exactamente lo que está sucediendo! De hecho, al mirar alrededor de la Iglesia Misionera, veo que nuestra familia es increíblemente fuerte y está experimentando un movimiento de Dios. World Partners está celebrando que 16 personas acaban de ser bautizadas de un grupo no alcanzado de personas hindúes en Pakistán y que es el resultado de que a un paquistaní se le enseñó a hacer discípulos mientras entregaba pizzas. También he sido impresionado por el liderazgo de nuestros distritos, regiones, el MLC y el GOC. Estamos siendo guiados por hombres y mujeres de oración, fieles a las Escrituras, con sabiduría y unidad guiada por el Espíritu. Esto es increíblemente alentador.
Este es mi primer acercamiento como presidente interino, pero no será el último. También haré todo lo posible para visitar tantas conferencias regionales y distritales como pueda a medida que sigamos avanzando. Nunca tuve la intención o esperé estar en este papel, pero como un buen amigo me dijo una vez, "Dios no siempre llama a los calificados, sino que califica a los que Él llama." Esa es mi esperanza.
“Jehová te bendiga, y te guarde; Jehová haga resplandecer su rostro sobre ti, y tenga de ti misericordia; Jehová alce sobre ti su rostro, y ponga en ti paz.” (Núm. 6:24-26)
