Spreading the Gospel in a Different Way

While the literacy rate in America is high, many people throughout the world are preliterate and are not yet able to read.Audio and visual learning is still a popular way to learn about new things. How can Christians teach, disciple, and train pastors without depending on the written word? World Partners staff Bruce and Dawn Cluckie have figured out a way to teach individuals about Christ in Guinea, West Africa, through words and pictures.Recently, Bruce and Dawn attended a conference to learn more about the topic of orality and connect with other agencies working in this field. They were able to learn more about audio devices and were energized to continue pursuing non-written forms of communication.Bruce worked with Pastor Kalifa, a local pastor from Guinea, to record an audio format of the chronological story of the Bible from Genesis to Jesus. This recording is currently being aired on a local radio station in West Africa to spread the gospel. These recorded audio messages will be heard by thousands of individuals in both Guinea and Sierra Leone.Bruce also loads MP3 players with scripture, audio leadership training materials, and the Gospel message all in the Yalunka language. Picture books are used by both Bruce and Dawn to teach the Gospel message to locals.Bruce and Dawn are currently in the U.S. on Home Ministry Assignment through the summer of 2017 and are available to speak in your Sunday school class, small group, or in your church. If you would like to hear more about Bruce and Dawn's ministry, please contact World Partners at info@wpartners.org.
