COLLEGIATE & BETHEL DAY OF PRAYER
February 22 is the 2024 Collegiate Day of Prayer. While February 22 seems like a date in the distant future, we want to prepare — lay some groundwork for what the Lord might do on university campuses around the country.
Starting on Wednesday, January 24, until the Collegiate Day of Prayer on February 22, we are calling on pastors, prayer leaders and students from across the Missionary Church to consecrate a 30-day season of fasting and prayer for awakening on our college campuses, and more specifically, on the campus of Bethel University. Bethel is our school. We need Bethel and Bethel needs the Missionary Church.
Christian universities face increasing challenges. The pool of students from which to recruit is shrinking. The cost of attending a private university is higher than that of a secular university. The pressure to conform to the culture continues to increase. There is an enemy who doesn’t want students to become fully devoted followers of Jesus.
Because Bethel University is committed to the authority of Scripture and to leading students to be followers of Jesus, she is ready to stand against the pressures to conform to the mores of the culture. Bethel staff works hard to make education at Bethel as affordable as possible. Bethel faculty and staff work diligently to address the mental and spiritual health of students.
As great as Bethel University is, she cannot accomplish the mission to which she has been called without the power and presence of the Spirit of God. It has been and continues to be the prayers of God’s people that have sustained Bethel University through the years.
During these thirty days beginning January 24, we encourage you to pray for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit on Bethel’s campus — for a perpetual revival. Pray for a great recruiting year. Pray that God will provide resources so that Bethel can be as affordable as possible. Pray for the faculty and staff that God will grant them wisdom, grace and discernment to disciple students to be fully devoted followers of Jesus.
As we get closer to the Collegiate Day of Prayer, watch for details of how you can pray more specifically during those 30 days. Go to the Collegiate Day of Prayer website and adopt Bethel. If you have students at another university, adopt that university and commit to pray for it as well as Bethel. Pray that we will see an awakening on university campuses across the country.
