NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER
“THE EFFECTIVE, FERVENT PRAYER OF A RIGHTEOUS MAN AVAILS MUCH.” - JAMES 5:16B
“Will You not revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You? Show us Your mercy, Lord, and grant us Your salvation. I will hear what God the Lord will speak, For He will speak peace to His people and to His saints” (Psalm 85:6-8a).
In the wake of the move of the Spirit on the campus of Asbury University and other universities across the country, could America experience a national revival? Whether we call it a revival, an awakening, or simply an extended time of worship, it is evident that there has been an outpouring of God’s Spirit that has led to transformed lives.
One of the results of revival — personal or corporate — is that God’s people rejoice in Him. This was so evident at Asbury. The Lord was speaking peace to students and others who were there. Lives were changed. The full impact of those two weeks may not be known for years. However, when a few students remained after a chapel service to pray and seek the Lord, God touched their hearts and began to draw others in. Thousands have been impacted from around the world.
One chapel service — a handful of students seeking the Lord — and God touched thousands of lives.
What might happen if churches across the country would unite in prayer on one day to seek the Lord? Could we see a similar move of the Spirit in our churches and in our country? Many have been praying for revival for years. Is this the time God has chosen to awaken the Church?
The National Day of Prayer is not about American Nationalism but about the body of Christ crying out to God to revive/awaken His Church so that the Church might be used of God to make disciples of Jesus.
We urge you to set aside Thursday, May 4, as a day of prayer for the nation. Pray individually; pray corporately; unite in prayer with other churches and community leaders; but PRAY. Pray in anticipation of what God is going to do.
