UNIVERSITIES MATTER — BETHEL MATTERS

It has been said that “as students go, so goes the nation.” Investing in the next generation is one of the greatest investments we can make. Prayer is the foundation for that investment.

COLLEGIATE DAY OF PRAYER

COLLEGIATE DAY OF PRAYER is February 27, 2025. It is a multi-generational day of prayer for revival and spiritual awakening on college campuses in America. IT IS NOT TOO EARLY to begin planning for your prayer investment in the next generation and your involvement in the Collegiate Day of Prayer. There are resources available at collegiatedayofprayer.org

In addition to the resources at the Collegiate Day of Prayer, following are some specific ways to be involved.

PRAY FOR BETHEL

Bethel is our university. God has worked through Bethel to equip leaders who are now serving around the world and involved in making disciples of Jesus. Bethel is committed to the Word and is clearly focused on Jesus. We need Bethel University and Bethel needs the Missionary Church.

There are alumni and current students who could testify to the power of having people in their home church praying for them regularly. Your prayers for a Bethel student may be the difference in their awareness of the voice of the Spirit calling them to a particular vocation or ministry.

MEET STUDENTS ON CAMPUS

Make a point of meeting students on campus to encourage and pray with them. If you have students attending state universities, plan to visit and pray with them. Encourage them so that they can be a witness where they are.

Remember that Collegiate Day of Prayer is a “multi-generational day of prayer for revival and spiritual awakening on college campuses in America.” One thing that suggests is that praying for the next generation is not just the responsibility of the student ministry leaders in your church. This is a ministry for parents, grandparents, siblings and elders. We dare not neglect this generation.

God is already moving on many campuses. Your prayers may serve to fan the flame of revival among students on college campuses across the country.

CAMPUS MINISTRIES

Contact campus ministry leaders at state universities. Pray with them. Join them in as they gather students for times of prayer. Learn from them the challenges students are facing so that you can pray more informed prayers.

PUBLIC PRAYER

When students are home, make a point of praying for them during times of worship. Periodically remind the church body to pray for them. Pray for their protection. Pray that God will guard their hearts. Pray that He will encourage and lead them. Ask them about the pressing needs in their lives so that you can cover those in prayer.

ADOPT A CAMPUS

At a minimum, adopt Bethel and commit to pray for our university. Also, consider adopting your local university. Pray for the students and learn how to support campus ministries. It is not too early to plan to be involved personally in the Collegiate Day of Prayer or to involve your church. Don’t neglect the next generation.
