Blessing Your Missionaries

We know that you and your congregation enjoy blessing World Partners’ missionaries while they are both on the field and during Home Ministry Assignment (HMA). Below are some ideas from World Partners about how to connect with and be a blessing to your missionaries!While they are on the field:

• Respond to your missionary’s newsletters and updates. Even a quick note to say you’re praying is encouraging. Many missionaries send updates out to a few hundred people and may get a handful of replies, or none at all. This can be discouraging.
• Consider providing (or sharing the costs of) personal, marital, and/or family counseling or retreats, either during HMA or while on the field.

While they are on HMA:

• Invite your missionaries to come to your church’s special events--not just to speak or present, but to relax and enjoy the fellowship. These events might include small groups, potlucks, Super Bowl parties, cookouts, etc. They may not be able to come, but they will be glad you’ve thought to include them.

If you know the family well enough, offer to watch their kids for an afternoon or evening so the parents can enjoy a break (and the kids can have a break from the parents, too). HMA can be really stressful, especially with kiddos.
